Aeolian "Sting" at Piano Factory in Memphis
By John Dewey

Regarding the Aeolian Sting. Years ago I had a chance to tour the
Aeolian factory in Memphis where they were being made. One of the
memorable (?) things I saw was in the wind motor assembly. They took
a hammer and pounded the pneumatic leaves at the hinge end to break up
the excess hot hide glue inside the hinge joint so that the hinge would
not be glue bound.

I also saw a piano made for house trailers. It was very small.
Probably about 36 inches high, 60 some note with a top that was flat
when closed so it could be used as a writing desk. It had a shallow
drawer under the treble end of the key bed that would hold writing
supplies.
