AK! Let the record show that I'm not soliciting a rally for Alaska.
On the other hand, Little Rock AR is not in Arizona, another common
error. That's why I tend to avoid the US Postal Service's two-letter
abbreviations whenever possible and just spell Arkansas in full.

By now most folks know that Arkansas is located between Texas and
Tennessee, along the banks of Interstate 40. My house is about a mile
from the confluence of I-40 and I-30, the latter flowing southwest to
Ft. Worth, Texas. We are within a day's drive of such cities as
Dallas, Nashville, Atlanta, St. Louis, Kansas City, and New Orleans.
To start looking for dates to consider for a rally, one needs the
tentative schedules of all the other events coming up. So far, very
little for 2002 has been published. Does anyone keep a master planning
matrix?
I was reminded that the 2002 AMICA convention is planned for Springdale,
Arkansas, which is about 200 miles from here. It is not clear what
effect, if any, that would have on a rally in Little Rock the same
summer. The target audience in Little Rock comprises local supporters
of the carousel and zoo projects who don't yet know about band organs
and wouldn't be attracted to the Springdale event.
To obtain maximum exposure of the uninitiated, the Little Rock rally
will need to coincide and collocate with another attraction. One that
comes to mind is the annual pre-Memorial-Day party down by the river
called "Riverfest" whose organizers call it "Arkansas' largest and most
popular music, arts and food festival." Attendance last year was over
200,000. The festival celebrates its 25th year May 24-26, 2002. See
http://www.riverfestarkansas.com .
I don't know if they will have room left for any organ trailers there
in Riverfront Park, which gets mighty crowded during Riverfest, but I
can do some checking. Would anyone be interested in bringing an organ
here that weekend?
