I have recently placed roll orders with a number of the various
suppliers of Welte rolls for my Christmas present to myself;
"Merry Christmas to me," you might say.
Since becoming a Welte owner and joining MMD and AMICA state and
national organizations, which are all wonderful resources, I have
found that the selection of Welte rolls, as opposed to Duo-Art and
Ampico rolls, is far less. I am aware of the general history of the
Welte recordings, company history and therefore understand why there
is less.
Those formats and the resources for them are very abundant. Perhaps
if I make a plea for Welte owners to unite we can begin a contact
catalog of what each of us has in our collections and expand our
libraries through buy-sell-trade- and recutting projects. If you happen
to be interested in sharing with one another, I'll offer to compile
(as an ongoing project) the list and distribute via email as it comes
together. Let's try it and see where we go.

[ I've heard that the combined catalog of Welte-Mignon T-100 (Red)
[ plus Licensee song titles is bigger than Ampico plus Duo-Art
[ combined -- hard to believe! Perhaps the scarcity of Welte rolls
[ is because fewer instruments were sold, hence fewer rolls were
[ purchased. -- Robbie
