Keytop Organ Player by Maestro Co., Elbridge, NY
By Adam G. Ramet
Ord-Hume's "Pianola" book has a picture of this identical instrument
and also a copy of its original advert. It sold for $40 around 1900
and was a key-top player for an organ (which explains why it has no
dynamic control levers). According to the text it plays a special
50-note roll 9-3/4 inches wide.
The left hand spool end is rounded like a 65-note piano roll and the
right one is rectangular and slots in the socket you can see in the
photo. Winding the handle provides the motive force and winds a
clockwork motor which rewinds the roll.
