Copying a Brittle Piano Roll
By Mike Walter

Hi Friends, Doug Anderson was inquiring about copying brittle piano
rolls. A couple of options I would suggest that he try would be to
contact those on the MMD list of new roll producers who might be
able to supply him with a brand-spanking new copy of his favorite roll.
If that is unsuccessful, then he could check with those who have used
roll auctions. Most old rolls turn up at some point in time.

Of course there are the exceptions. If Doug's favorite is one of
those exceptions, then I would suggest he contact someone such as the
Tonnesens down in Texas who do an extremely fine job of making rolls
from originals, no matter of the condition of the original roll.
Most other options (cutting by hand with X-acto blades, a Leabarjan
perforator) are either too time consuming or else too expensive for
a single roll.

Good Luck!

Mike Walter
