I just wanted to thank everyone who responded to my questions about the
automatic roll changer on the Wurlitzer Model I nickelodeon on eBay.
I don't have one of these pianos nor do I think I will acquire
one anytime soon. I just thought that the idea of being able to
automatically thread, unthread, reroll and play 5 rolls in succession,
mechanically and reliably, with _1920s_ technology, seemed, well,
a bit farfetched. But to my delight I find that there are a number
of people who know about this mechanism and that in fact it is fully
automatic. Quite impressive from today's view of jukeboxes, MIDI
keyboards, and other "smart" devices that rely heavily on microchips.
Finding out more about this machine only makes me want to see it in
action. Anyone close to Albuquerque, New Mexico, have one of these?
For that matter, if you live close to me, I'd love to visit and see
your machine(s).
MMD is indeed a great resource!
Thanks,
Ray Finch
