Deagan Unaphone or Una-Fon ?
By Robbie Rhodes

MBSI stalwart and MMDer Bob Fine showed me an undated catalog
of J. C. Deagan electrical instruments which includes several
pages about the Deagan reiterating bar bells (metallophone).
The name of the instrument in this catalog is Unaphone.

But earlier J. C. Deagan advertisements of essentially the same
instrument (reproduced in "Player Piano Treasury", page 239-240)
show the name Una-Fon.

When did the name change, and why? Are any other variant
spellings used in Deagan literature?
