The Mechanical Music Digest is worth its weight in gold -- actually
much more, since its weight is negligible. Not only did I get an
answer in the last MMD to my question about the man-made gasket
material used by Verbeeck, but tonight Bill Masterman phoned me from
Washington State with answers to my Wurlitzer 146 band organ draw stop
question. It turns out that two of the draw stops should be visible
on one side of the case because of their exterior knobs. But the third
draw stop is concealed inside the case, with no exterior knob,
accessible on the other side of the case through the door for the
pressure pump's pump sticks.
Thanks to Bill for the phone call and to MMD for being the medium of
communication that it is! Ten years ago questions like those that get
asked and answered here would have gone unanswered because there was
no place to ask them.
