Hi Paul,
I seen in the MMD your note of Friday 12 October, 2001 in regards to
Torn and Damaged Rolls. For my music roll customers, I do stock the
archival paper repair tape in the 1/2 inch variety and I also stock the
1 inch variety that has been cut into Two - 1/4 inch rolls, Two 1/8th
inch rolls, and One each of 1/16, and 3/16th inch rolls, for any variety
of edge, bridge or other music roll repairs.
I also provide a repair guide on repairing music rolls, that has a lot
of helpful hints in doing a good job, including the tools to use, etc.
The guide also has a section on adjusting your player piano so that it
does not tear rolls.
I would be happy to email an attachment of the guide to you or anyone
else who wants one, or snail mail a copy to anyone who wants one. If you
want an email attachment, the document is written in Microsoft word, but
I can convert it over to other word processor or text formats. For those
who want a snail mailed copy, please send me a stamped self addressed
envelope and I will send you a copy. You may visit my web site at
http://home.earthlink.net/~rollertunes
to get information on the repair tape and other parts that I offer and
also my mailing address.
Of course for brittle rolls, outside of having a new copy made from it,
there is not too much you can do. The tape can hold it together, but it
would take a lot of tape, and you would have to play it with care. If
the roll is really worth having, I would have a new copy made.
Hope this is helpful
Musically yours,
Larry
