Hi MMDers. As you have heard from me several times in the past, I use
Filmoplast archival repair tape, made by the Neschen Company in
Germany, on my piano rolls. Two useful adhesive tapes are
Filmoplast P, which is thin, and Filmoplast P90, which is thicker and
is good where some extra strength is needed, like underneath the leader
where it joins the tag.
My current favorite, however, is Filmoplast R, which is an iron-on
tape. It is very convenient to use and my guess is that it halves the
time required to fix a roll. However, it is very hard to get hold of.
I have been trying for six months but I won't go into the agonizing
details. At last I have been offered a very good deal from the
Australian agent for Neschen but I have to buy a package of 25 rolls
of their 2 cm wide by 50 meter long Filmoplast R tape. Would anybody
like to buy some rolls from me at roughly half the usual retail price,
plus postage. I can't see this being economic for anyone not living
in Australia, but as Fats Waller said "One Never Knows, Do One?"
John Phillips in Hobart, Tasmania.
