The Music Box Society International Mid-America chapter regional
meeting will be held in Schaumburg, Illinois, October 12-14, 2001.
MBSI members are invited to attend and non-members may attend as
the guest of a member.
Friday evening there will be a "Music Box Road Show" where attendees
are invited to bring a mechanical musical treasure or novelty.
Saturday will start with breakfast, brief business meeting and the
usual fabulous Mid-Am mart. There will also be a workshop or lecture.
After lunch busses will transport all registrants to the home and
collections of Jasper and Marion Sanfilippo for guided tours, social
hour and dinner.
Registrants will have the chance to dine amidst gems of the fairground
and industrial revolution and the largest restored collection of
mechanical music in America. Enjoy the magnificent 1890 salon
carousel, renowned facade and 89-key Gavioli, plus a collection of
restored steam engines, and steam locomotive. In the evening, Dave
Wickerham of Las Vegas will entertain us at the console of the world's
largest theater organ, the 5 manual 80 rank Wurlitzer.
Open houses are scheduled on Sunday.
All attendees must be registered at the hotel and take the provided bus
transportation. No attendees may arrive at the Sanfilippos with their
own transportation.
