Of course the definitive place to learn whether Wurlitzer 146 band
organs were equipped with brass pipes or not is Ron Bopp's book,
"The American Carousel Organ", ISBN 0-9663429-0-9, Library of Congress
catalog card number 98-92542. That great book is still available from
the author, Ron Bopp <bopp@rectec.net>, I think.
Bopp describes and illustrates more models of early and late Wurlitzer
organs than I ever dreamed existed. It doesn't appear than any Style
146 organs had brass. The chart on page 104 indicates that the
display pipes on the 146 were wood violins and that the 146A and the
later 146B had no display pipes. The styles 147 and 148 did both have
brass display pipes; the 148 had them in quantity. Bopp's chart data
are borne out by his illustrations of surviving examples of each of
these organs.
