Hello MMDers, It has been a long time since I've have had the
opportunity to write to or read the MMD. My computer wasn't working.
Now that it is, I would like to describe what I'm just now finishing.
It is a Mills "Panoram Soundies" from, I believe, the late 1930s or
early '40s. I've done a complete restoration and replicated the
missing top dome, which is a lid with two curved moldings that look
like a dome.
Of the other Mills Co. machines that I've done -- a single-violin
Violano and a double-violin Violano Virtuoso Deluxe -- this is the
first Panoram that I've done. In keeping with the quality of the Mills
Co. the cabinetry is very well done: solid walnut and walnut veneer,
with curved corners, 2-tone in color, very Art Deco in style.
Eric Sprangers, the owner of the piece, is donating it to a museum in
Holland. Larry Fisher, the gentleman who is restoring the interior
film projector system, has done a great job also.
With all that said it brings me to my point. I replicated three lid
domes: one for Eric Sprangers, one for Cody Miller in Nebraska, and
I have one extra. If anybody needs one, the cost is $950 plus shipping
(walnut wood unfinished).
Thanks,
Ricky Diggs
