Responding to Jim Moore's posting in 010921 MMDigest:
> Does anyone have any new information about the PowerRoll?
> I e-mailed Mr. Broadmoore but didn't get a reply.
Our email is working and I don't know why Jim's letter did not
arrive. In any case, we can always be reached either by telephone
at (818) 365-6231 or toll-free at (800) 497-4266 (49-PIANO).
I just got out of the hospital, where I was admitted on an emergency
basis due to blood clots in my leg and lung. No damage was done;
I'm fine and the problem is under control. I lost another month of
work due to this, but am back to work on a limited basis.
As I mentioned in my last posting, delivery of all past due units was
planned for early this year and parts for 70 units had been ordered,
which would have left us with a surplus of many units on the shelf.
These plans were interrupted by health problems starting in January and
lasting three months, followed by another three months of slow
recovery.
The manufacturers, unable to obtain certain technical data from me,
suspended the order. This was unfortunate in one way but fortunate in
another, because the financial losses from my illness absorbed the
funds planned to cover the parts purchases, and I would have been
unable to pay for them.
Secondarily, my attention was diverted by having to work very hard and
quickly to build our piano restoration business back up and keep it
going.
Our customers have all been wonderful to us and have remained trusting,
although a very few have been worried. Some have even insisted on
sending money to help out, and others have given of (and continue to
give) much of their valuable time to work on finding financial
assistance to help me to resume PowerRoll production more rapidly.
Still others have offered help with contacting our customers to improve
communications.
As a result, although not yet confirmed, prospects for resuming
production soon, look excellent at the moment, despite my own difficult
situation. I hope to be able to make an announcement soon, giving full
particulars.
As far as I know, with the exception of a few units sent in for repair
due to the peculiarities of certain models of one reproducing system
(adaptations have been made, but not yet implemented in all cases)
nearly all of the units delivered - roughly 65 to date - have performed
extremely well and I've received many, many letters of gratitude and
satisfaction with the PowerRoll. As time permits we plan to post some
of this information at our website, http://www.powerroll.com/
It has been a rough road, but (in the opinion of several engineers) the
PowerRoll and the means for producing it have both been perfected as of
the last production runs. We are doing our best to get units out to
our customers and onto dealers' shelves, and again offer our heartfelt
apology for any inconvenience experienced by PowerRoll customers as a
result of this delay.
Sincerely,
Larry Broadmoore
