Dear MMds,
I listened to the last CD issued by the Icelandic female singer Bjork
(a very interesting mixture of rock, folk and modern music). The only
instrumental only track is ... a composition for music box by Bjork,
actually played, from what I understood, by a disc music box made by
the Porter Music Box Company, and arranged by Jack Perron. This one
minute and a half of music box music is a real happiness, and it seems
that Bjork understood completely the instrument: sonority, virtuosity,
arpeggios, bass notes, etc. I do not know if the Porter music box
company and Jack Perron read the MMD, but I would be very interested
to have some details about the way this recording was conceived and
made, from a mechanical music point of view.
Best regards,
Philippe Rouille (Paris, France)
