Arrangements were not the only things that were recycled for different
piano rolls. Certain melodies were also re-used.
For "Whose Izzy Is He (Is He Yours Or Is He Mine)" (QRS 2620, played
by Pete Wendling), there is a distinctive patter interlude. The song
was published by Shapiro, Bernstein & Company, 1924.
However, the same patter interlude had been used for the song
"Palesteena" (QRS 1244, played by Conrad & Robinson) in 1920. The
composers and lyricists for the two songs are different, but the
publisher is the same -- Shapiro, Bernstein & Company.
When listening to these rolls, it is interesting that the patter works
well for both songs and does not seem to have been added superfluously.
It is an integral part of the song.
