The Carousel Organ Association of America is holding its third band
organ rally of the year next weekend in Maple Springs, near Jamestown
in southwest New York State. The rally will be held in Midway Park, a
small family-owned amusement park on Chautauqua Lake. Among the park's
attractions are a 1940s Allan Herschell carousel, a carousel museum,
and a 1915 roller skating rink.
On Friday, August 24th, I believe the organ owners will be arriving,
setting up and playing throughout the day. Saturday the 25th will be
the main rally day, with all organs playing from 12:00 to 6:00.
Sunday the 26th, the owners who can stay part or all of the day will
play their organs. I am not sure how many organs will be there, but
it should be a good turnout. For more information, contact Dan Wilke
(716-825-7266 evenings).
Personally, I am really looking forward to this rally. It will be the
first I have attended since the COAA's last rally in New York two years
ago. If there are any MMDers not too far from Jamestown, you should
come and check it out!
