Seek Ideal Roll "That Old Irish Mother of Mine"
By Jerry F. Bacon
Hello Gang, Many thanks to Robbie and Ed Sprankle for the help they
gave me. I am now seeking the really great arrangement of "Varsity
Drag" that appeared on the LP record, "Plinkity Plank Plunk" and also
"That Old Irish Mother of Mine". I was told by Don Rand that "Varsity
Drag" was the Ampico roll played by Vincent Lopez, and the one of
"Irish Mother" was an Ideal Roll.
The Vocalstyle "Don't Bring Lulu" is by far the best that I have heard
and it _is_ the one on that record. It sounds great on my Fotoplayer.
I put what I call an automatic stop on each of the two roll frames,
which moves the playing lever to the left when the roll ends. When
both levers are in play when one roll stops and the other one begins by
itself. It makes for a semi-automatic operation. These reroll devices
can be removed with very little trace.
I have been reading all editions of the MMDigest and only have about
three years left. I am still in awe of the tremendous knowledge that
is in this Digest. A big thank you to _all_ of you.
