Hi all, I'm working on my first Regina. Mechanically this machine
is a mess. Someone decided that welding the winding gear (which
apparently had broken in several places) would be a good idea, but
they didn't bother to even weld it together round -- there's about
a 6-7 mm difference in the diameter from one extreme to the other.
I have decided to scrap it and have a new one made with the correct
dimensions (and hopefully round).
They disassembled the coin drop mechanism leaving only the pieces
and one part missing, the counter weight (which I can work out an
arrangement for myself).
Finally, I have heard recommendations never to move the star wheel
gauntry from its position, as it is hard to place and realign.
Unfortunately, this also was done, and none of the original shims
were in place in either the star wheel or dampers.
As this is a single comb machine, I understand that a lot of my work
is already easier as I only need to align two devices (star wheel
gauntry and dampers) in x, y, z and theta quadrants. My guru is
currently out of contact on her way to the MBSI convention, but
I was wondering if anyone has a suggestion of how to do this?
I'd really appreciate your help.
