Greetings friends, As curator and operations manager of the Music
House Museum in Acme (near Traverse City), Michigan, I feel it
necessary to inform you of the passing of our founder David Stiffler.
Active for years within both classical and theatre organ circles,
Musical Box Society and automated musical instrument organizations.
Though it was often the perception of the public that our museum
was Dave's museum, it is and has been for some time a nonprofit
organization, and though we face the challenges of this tragic loss,
it will in no way affect the museum's future. With Dave's advancing
age, he was planning on retiring soon to allow him to spend his time
working on projects around the museum which he felt closest too. A
succession plan was in development and we have rallied to the call.
Many of you have known Dave personally over the years; he was truly
a wonderful and amazing man. At 78 he was still putting in 7 days
a week with no sign of slowing down. His visions for the museum went
far beyond our present status, and we will continue to work towards
those dreams. The David L. Stiffler Memorial Fund has been established
in his honor, and donations to it will further the museums growth and
building programs.
