FS: Player Pianos in Toronto
By Colin Hinz

Hello MMD'ers, Near my home is the Higher Marks Educational Institute,
although not for much longer, as they have sold the building and must
relocate. They have three upright pianos which they would prefer to
sell, not to move and store. Two of them were originally Themodist
players, and all need some work.

1. One of the players is apparently missing the upper cabinet front,
pieces of the air-motor, and the tempo control and tracking mechanism.
The cabinet has seen better days, too. This piano has had the
misfortune of spending much time with unsupervised children. The make
of piano is completely unknown -- no fallboard or plate markings
visible. The lower action is complete and in reasonable unrestored
condition.

2. The other player is a Heintzman in a blond oak cabinet. This is the
Institute's "good" piano (i.e. unsupervised children were not permitted
to mess with it). Shows evidence of recent piano action work, as well
as reasonably frequent tuning. The entire upper action has been lost,
unfortunately. Bottom action is in good unrestored condition.

3. Straight piano, a completely forgettable small-town department store
stencil piano, even its maker didn't stick in my head. Cabinet needs
refinishing, ivories are trashed, and action needs a complete overhaul.

Initially, the Institute was hoping for real money ($500 and up) for
these pianos, but I think they're willing to negotiate by now.

Contact the Director, Mr. R.E.A. Blake, for more info. (416) 532-5563

regards,

Colin Hinz
