I have a client who has a small musical box and would be interested
in a rough valuation. Not being familiar with this market I wondered
if anyone could help please?
It is a musical cigarette case, approximately 5 inches wide by 4.5
inches deep, 2.5 inches high. The top is a pattern of black and
white diamond shaped inlays in ivory or Ivorine(?). I am not certain
of the material. The case is wood with a fairly slim base, housing a
mechanism that plays The Blue Danube. The upper part expands upon
opening to present four layers of wooden trays, each having ten
individual hollowed channels suitable for holding ten cigarettes.
The date is believed to be around 1920 and the origin is very probably
Prague.
Many thanks
