The COAA's (Carousel Organ Association of America) first organ
rally of the year will occur this coming weekend in Holland, Michigan.
Many large band and carousel organs as well as smaller cart-mounted
organs will be playing Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 22-24, at the
picturesque Dutch Village in Holland. The rally will be in conjunction
with the Dutch Heritage Days.
Located on the Western side of Michigan (not too far from Chicago),
Holland is a neat little town that is proud of its heritage. Dutch
Village is a recreation of actual buildings, canals and windmills of
the same name and features both a large Carl Frei Dutch Street Organ
as well as the medium-size "De Tiet" Dutch Street Organ. The village
is operated by Harry Nelius, a Dutchman who is very interested in organ
music and has gone all out to make this event enjoyable, both for the
organ owners as well as the tourists. Dutch Village is located on the
corner of James St. and Route #31 North in Holland.
MMDer's interested in participating in this rally by bringing an organ
should contact Terry Haughawout <tbhowout@wcnet.org>, tel. 419-454-3671.
Don't want to bring an organ? Then come see and listen to the organs,
and find out why the COAA is the fastest-growing mechanical musical
instrument group in America.
