I would like to respond to the recent articles written to the MMD
about the Duo-Art pipe organ rolls, and the interest in recutting
rolls for other organs.
As some MMD subscribers already know, we have supplied Duo-Art pipe
organ rolls over the past several years. These rolls have been
manufactured for us by Play-Rite in California and have been of the
best quality.
In fact, we have produced over 3800 Duo-Art rolls and supplied them
to about 20 collectors on a subscription basis. We were the first in
planning the 12/inch format for recutting, although due to some delays,
the Kegg company had the first rolls available for sale.
At this time, we are recutting Aeolian-Hammond rolls for, I believe,
the first time ever since the factory closed. We have been advertising
to find any other interest for 12/inch rolls so that they can be
produced while the perforator is set up for this format. I believe
that this shows a commitment on our part to the reproducing and player
pipe organs.
We do have a few sets of Aeolian-Hammond rolls available, and also
have about 100 different Duo-Art reproducing pipe organ rolls still
available for sale as a set, as we had a museum that purchased only
1/2 of the original 200 roll project.
The Kegg Organ Company is providing a needed service in supplying
quality Duo-Art rolls for those that would like to pick certain titles
without committing to large numbers in a set. But I just want to
remind everyone that we also have been saving this music by recutting
it, and in the case of the Duo-Art player pipe organ, have recut over
200 different rolls in this format.
