In July Anne and I will be celebrating 10 years and we will be taking
an extended vacation to tour "Route 66." We would like to meet as many
of you fellow Mechanical Music folks as we can!
We will begin in Chicago and end at Flagstaff AZ. If any of you would
be interested in a meeting send me a private message and I'll let you
know the dates and hopefully we can meet some fellow collectors. Anne
and I would like to meet more of you and this may be the only time we
travel to "your neck of the woods."
One of the best trips I can remember was the trip I made to Long Island
NY. There Walt Kehoe sacrificed a day to give me the grand tour! He
has a wonderful collection of music boxes and of course the Duo-Art.
It didn't stop at his house for he had arranged visits with 3 other
collectors: David Palter, Joe Hutter, and Joe Hanulec.
At David's I remember the Seeburg nickelodeon with the torch stained
glass front. The Mills Violin (the first one I have saw) and the
Regina changer, the Steinway Duo-Art, the Western Electric(?)
nickelodeon and the fabulous train collection in the basement!
At Joe Hutters there were the Aeolian Orchestrelles which were
_wonderful!_ There was also a beautifully restored Knabe(?) Ampico A
with a double valve stack. Joe's case work was first class!
At Joe Hanulec's there was the most amazing piece of all, the Wurlitzer
Pianorchestra. I still watch the tape from time to time. There is not
much to say because I'm still speechless.
Again, if you are interested in a meeting let me know and if all works
out Anne and I will have the great fortune of making new friends along
the way!
