What a coincidence that this information was posted. Last Sunday
evening the BBC broadcast a 50-minute TV programme titled "Old New
World: The United States of Europe". Lucida Lampton, who is well-known
in the UK for her programmes on architecture and associated things from
the past, visited many locations in America with reminders of Europe's
past. The message was clear that there are many examples of European
things from the past still to be seen in America. Many of them better
than can be found in Europe.
Included was Zaharako's Confectionery, with details of how and why it
was established, lovely shots of the premises, an explanation of the
word "Sundae", comments from customers, and best of all, shots of the
orchestrion being started followed by close-ups of it, and playing in
the background. It was great.
I said to myself, "I must see if it has a web site and find out more,"
and within 24 hours MMD provided the information without asking.
