Technology & Mechanical Music Auction in MA
By Karl Ellison

The Skinner Auction House in Bolton, Mass., is having it's annual
Science & Technology auction on Saturday, March 31, 2001. This year
the emphasis seems to be on medical instrument, photography and other
optical items, but "the beginning of the sale will feature fifty lots
of mechanical music, starting with an early Edison Concert phonograph
and ending with an upright 20-inch Olympia disc musical box."

I attended this auction last year. The MBSI 2000 convention was also
in attendance, so lots of familiar faces were in the packed audience.
I won a few cases of Ampico rolls. They also auctioned a circuit board
complete with it's vacuum tubes (valves) from the original Univac
computer, so there's always fun stuff to see, touch and try.
