On the "Tangled Tunes", is there 106, or 107, or 108 tunes, or is
there a typographical error on my roll label? I noticed that those
that replied to my request said the sheet music listed 106 tunes.
Adam Ramet, said there was a 107th tune, called "Ask a Policeman".
So I am wondering if there is the possibility that there might be one
more tune, hidden somewhere in the roll music, or do I have just a typo
on the roll label?
Anyway I certainly want to thank all those who sent in the titles,
especially, Russell Wattam, Adam Ramet for providing the titles and
additional information. A double thanks to Frank Himpsl for the first
information on the composer and secondly, for the great MIDI file.
I certainly hope everyone enjoyed listening to the tangled tunes.
I think it took a lot of musical talent to be able to merge all those
tunes so meticulously together. I certainly thank all those who
provided all the other information about the composer.
I am glad to know that now there are a few biographies written about
Ketelbey. It was kind of sad to go to a library and see thousands of
volumes written on Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin, etc., but only one
paragraph on Ketelbey. I am going to ask my local library to see if
they won't order some of these books. I hope some of the others ask
their libraries, especially the University Music Libraries to order
some copies. I wonder if there are any books on: Moritz Moszkowski,
Wilbur Chenoweth, and Ernest Von Dohananyi? Some other, lesser known,
but also great composers?
It was also nice getting a lot of emails from other people who also
like Ketelbey's music. It is nice to know that there are a lot of
people out there who do like his music.
I will shortly be sending in the roll as well as some of the other
rolls for recutting. So if you would like to have a copy of that
one and hopefully some of the other great rolls, please do let me know,
so that I will know how many copies to order. You may visit my web
site at http://home.earthlink.net/~rollertunes and go to Roller Tunes
Recut section for the listing. Thanks again, to all, for all the
wonderful emails, the posting on the MMD and all the great information.
Musically yours,
Larry Norman
