The thread relating to contributions to MMD has cropped up several
times and I think we can all see many sides to the problem. Obviously
we love the MMD sufficiently to subscribe (i.e., to have it delivered
to our email-boxes).
Many pay a subscription, some would like to or wouldn't mind paying if
it was easier and object to excessive bank charges and some would not
want to pay if there were any charges involved. I fall into the second
category and would readily pay if it were easier to do so. This is
unusual for me because I generally support the sharing of information
without charge, but I think Robbie and Jody have created such a
wonderful site it is worth paying for. I especially like the fact that
the payments are voluntary otherwise I may never have found the site.
How can we make it easier to pay. I wondered if it was possible for
MMD to hold bank accounts in the major countries that their subscribers
are located or have representatives in each country to collect the
donations who would forward them on to MMD. This would of course save
the subscribers transaction problems. I do not know what a minefield
of problems it might create at the USA end.
If this were not possible, is there any other way we could contribute
in our own currency in our own country? If not I will probably get
round to biting the bullet and paying the bank far too much for sending
in my donation.
Meanwhile let me congratulate you, Robbie and Jody, for one of the best
sites on the net.
Kindest regards
Tom Newsome
[ Please hold your donation, Tom, until Jody announces a low-cost
[ method such as PayPal for international money transfer. Foxtail
