[ Senor Inigo Perez-Espana sent the following note of thanks to all
[ the MMDers who provided technical information and encouragement to
[ restore his rare piano. -- Robbie
Hello everyone! It's been more than a year since we crossed all those
emails about my Kastner Autopiano, and the Kastonome system, and I have
news for everybody: It's working! After a lot of months that Ramon
Duran -- the restorer I told you about -- had told me he would not be
able to make it play again, I insisted so much to him that he finally
put his hands on it and, after 2-1/2 months of work, the Kastonome
Autopiano is working again.
It sounds really beautiful (to me at least and Ramon at least). I have
four original Kastonome rolls that came with the piano (the rest are
standard ones), and we also tried the test roll Robbie sent me which
worked very well. When the Kastonome system is connected, you can
appreciate the accenting on the notes, although I must confess I
expected something more "powerful". You really have to sharpen your
ears and put a nice pressure on the pedals to appreciate the difference
between the accented and non-accented notes. The valves are very
small, and maybe that's why the difference between the accented and
non-accented notes is not so evident.
Well, I want to thank you all for all the articles and emails about it,
and the test roll I got from Robbie and Dave Saul, and the extracts of
the Kastner book which Julian Dyer sent that were really useful.
Best regards,
Inigo Perez-Espana
