A massive amount uploaded on the site this evening. First: the site
has been selected by both Phil Pastras and the University of California
Press to have the whole of Chapter 4 from Phil's book "Dead Man Blues
-- Jelly Roll Morton Way Out West".
You will find this in the section, "California Days, 1917 - Spring 1923",
where there is the customary gold button which opens up to Chapter 4.
The J. Lawrence Cook page has also been updated with a superb music
cover and full details of a piano instruction folio on Boogie Woogie,
Blues and Barrelhouse, courtesy of fellow MMD member Bob Pinsker.
Hope you enjoy.
Bob also sends an extended report from The Chicago Defender dated
Saturday 2nd July 1927, part 1, page 8: "'Grandpas Spells' becomes
'Granpa Spells'".
Lawrence Gushee sends an article from Down Beat, dated July 1937,
page 2: "'Jelly-Roll' his own MC, barrel opener and bouncer."
As usual for all new addition just scroll down the page(s) until you
spot a 'new' revolving icon.
Musically yours
Mike Meddings
