I am glad to see the MIDster Punch being discussed on MMD. I am one
of the many around the world who is happily punching away. I found the
"plans" to be very easy to follow. My only problem was I was not a
computer person. This project brought me into the world of computers
and music.
Bob Essex was very helpful, not that I needed much help with his plans,
but when I finished my punch, I had to tackle arranging music for my
John Smith organ and he got me started. If only I had the Melvyn
Wright flair for arranging organ music. But where else can you load
a MIDI file or write your own music, turn on the computer and punch,
go to bed or out for dinner and the next morning the song is ready to
play?
At my chapter's summer AMICA meeting, several crank owners were amazed
at the MIDster punch as it flawlessly punched all day under admiring
eyes. We organ grinders are always looking for ways to make music
ourselves and the MIDster takes the hard work out of the job. Building
Bob's speedy, double-headed punch is next on my list. This is a great
machine. All of you innovators keep those "plans" coming.
