Waldkirch Hopes To Buy Jens Carlson Collection
By Walter Tenten
Hello Robbie, I assume that Weitkirch is a typo and should read
Waldkirch!
[ Fortunately it wasn't my error; that's the spelling in the
[ summary sent to Matthew Walworth from the German news service
[ DE-NEWS. -- Robbie
The town of Waldkirch has made negotiations with Jens Carlson, the
owner of an outstanding museum for mechanical music in Koenigslutter
(near Braunschweig, resp. Wolfsburg, where the first Volkswagen beetle
was produced).
The quoted price, 15 million German marks, was also mentioned in
several publications in the Web that were published by various
political parties in the town of Waldkirch.
The last information I got about the sale of the Carlson collection
said that the town of Koenigslutter has agreed to take over the museum
and keep it within their town walls.
But all this news may be gossip. Even Werner Baus is "looking for an
investor" on his Web-pages at http://www.pianola.de/inve.html The
accompanying photos at the web site show the museum in Koenigslutter.
Maybe other MMD readers have more reliable information.
