Seek "Nagasaki" on Piano Roll
By Larry Mayo
Last night I heard an oldie that was a hoot, and I wonder if it
exists on a roll. The refrain is "Back in Nagasaki where the
fellers chew tobaccy and the women wicky wacky woo."

[ Editor's remarks:
[
[ The song is "Nagasaki", published 1928. The Royal Society Jazz
[ Orchestra plays it. (I play piano in this fine group. :-) The
[ refrain begins: "Hot ginger and dynamite, there's nothing but that
[ at night". The lyrics are a tricky tongue-twister so the singer
[ should be sober(!). The chorus and a rather shallow commentary are
[ at http://www.uwosh.edu/home_pages/faculty_staff/earns/song.html
[ The commentary is long on speculation and trivia (gleaned from
[ coffee table books on jazz and movies?) but it's a bit skewed on
[ historical perspective.
