Dear Friends, I am in the process of restoring a Seeburg VL200 jukebox
for a customer. The customer wanted to have as much chrome plated as
possible. I complied with his wishes and sent, amongst other things,
the frame which goes around the large front glass. All items were
returned with good chrome plating, and so reassembly commenced.
I work primarily out of my garage in a suburb of sunny Buffalo, NY,
where the weather usually cooperates and stays fairly warm until a week
or so before Christmas (40 degrees). This year, unfortunately, the
weather became quite cold the week before Thanksgiving (10 degrees).
In the process of cooling down everything, good old 'Jack' Frost
happened upon this wonderful jukebox in the garage and said to himself,
"Let's see what havoc I can cause".
'Jack' did a good job. He contracted the metal frame a tiny bit on the
left-hand side of the lid and put a 3-inch crack in the corner which is
very visible. (By the way, the frame was bent by about a sixteenth of
an inch by the plater). I took the frame to a recommended machine shop
and, instead of straightening it out, they cracked the frame side,
I would like to be able to get an original glass and frame for this
wonderful machine, if at all possible. If anyone has a glass and
frame, or just glass, or left side of the frame for a Seeburg V200 or
VL200, please let me know.
I supposed the lesson to be learned is to be extremely careful when
others do sub-contract work for you!
Thanks very much!
Mike Walter
