I asked Philippe Rouille about item 766, "Repetiteur Mnemosyne
... a totally reliable locator of high precision." He writes that
a phonograph specialist provided this explanation:
"It is a kind of metal arm which may be fixed at the center of
the phonograph turntable, and which obliges the arm to repeat a
pre-determined portion of the record a pre-fixed number of times
(2, 3 or 4, for example). It was used by language learning methods
using phonograph records, to repeat, for example, the same group of
sentences...
"I am not sure it works on a CD ... :-) "
