Hello all, The J. Lawrence Cook page has been updated to include his
"The Jewel in the Crown" autobiography. It is linked off a "Gold
Button" on the JLC page. This is a twenty-thousand word article on
JLC's life from 1899 to 1922, transcribed from his comments taped in
1972, and edited and annotated by his son, Jean Lawrence Cook, M.D.
This version nicely compliments the pioneering work by Bob and Ginny
Billings in their "Billings Rollography - Vol. #5" and the 1974
AMICA articles.
There are many very items of interest, including JLC working in Chicago
and registering for the draft. Dr. J. L. Cook has promised to check
all the paperwork and files he has, to see if there are more details of
JLC's musical activities. Special thanks to Dr. J. L. Cook, Prof. Alan
Wallace, Millie Gaddini, Karl Ellison and Julian Dyer.
My next project is a planned visit next week to meet up with Lisa,
JLC's eldest granddaughter.
Musically yours
Mike Meddings
