Transmission Reroll & Silence Functions
By Jack M. Conway

Hi Group, Fox Morrey asked about the silent function on his Aeolian
player piano. I don't have an Aeolian, but my Gulbransen player piano
has a "Silence" (not silent) function. It is a button near the tempo
indicator. When it is pressed it cuts out the stack so that the notes
stop playing and the tempo regulator is over-ridden so that the rolls
goes into a fast forward search mode. The roll moves at about double
speed. When the button is released the piano returns to normal play
mode.
