Piano Roll Artist Ralph Rainger
By John Farrell

I'm pretty sure that Ralph Rainger was a pseudonym; his real name was
Reichenthal (somewhere I have one of his compositions where the name
Reichenthal has also been changed to Reiche). On the evidence of some
sheet music in my possession he was a composer of musically impressive,
high quality tunes, for instance "Pilgrim's Polkadot" and "American
Dance #1".

Neither of these are easy to play which might explain why they did not
do very well in the popular music charts of the day.
