Hello to everyone. My Chickering grand is getting a new pinblock.
I am installing a Bulduc pinblock and will be marking the pinblock with
a punch once I get the pinblock properly fitted to the plate. Since
the drilled tuning pin holes will be angled 7 degrees, but the hardwood
tuning pin bushings are not angled, doesn't this present an alignment
problem?
Also, if I angle the punch 7 degrees when I mark the pinblock prior to
drilling, should the mark be centered in the bottom of the hole or not?
Something has to give here and not be centered, if I have a 7 degree
incline on the punch and drill bit. I calculated that the off-centering
at the top or bottom of the hole will be about 1.16 mm.
25.4 mm/inch X 3/8" X SIN(7 deg) = 1.16 mm (The plate is 3/8" thick.)
Can someone please straighten me out on this stuff? I am attempting to
do as thorough and professional a job as possible.
Thanks,
Larry Toto

PS: Are the Diamond brand tuning pins truly an improvement over
the Nippon Denro tuning pins?
