Gem Roller Organ at Robert Louis Stevenson Museum
By Glenn Amer

Greetings from Sydney. Yesterday I returned from a concert tour of
the South Pacific and luckily enough had the chance to visit Apia,
Western Samoa.

Robert Louis Stevenson settled there towards the end of his life and
his house at Vailima has been preserved as a museum. I was fortunate
enough to see and play his upright piano and also his interesting Gem
Roller Organ with about twenty pinned cylinders.

What a surprise and delight! The organ was in fine working condition.
I wonder how many of these items are hidden in other unlikely places?

Best wishes from Glenn Amer
