Hi all, Extreme caution is advised before downloading any music
player systems. I have AOL. On the sign-on screen was an offer for
Winamp MP3: "See what it's all about!"
What it's all about is that, with no prior warning, it will capture
all your existing MIDI files and change the type [association] into
a Winamp file type.
I had no idea this would happen. I have, or rather had, "Windows Media
Player 2" which came with my computer. By this time I was comfortable
with it, understood it's options, etc. It now is apparently unusable.
I feel like I have been hit with a virus.
I deleted every file I could find related to the new infecting Winamp
program, but all my MIDI files are still corrupted and unusable with
my Windows Media Player.

[ It is relatively straightforward to reassign the type association
[ back to Windows Media Player. I will research this and print the
[ procedure. Winamp isn't real good (yet) with MIDI files. It
[ is, however, my preferred player for .WAV, .MP3, and several other
[ types. -- Jody
