I stumbled onto a site that listed a CD-ROM of piano rolls made by
pianists in the early part of the century. Listed among those artists
was the name of my teacher in Chicago, Mme. Cecile de Horvath, playing
Ignaz Friedman's Elle danse.
There was little information about the publisher/distributor of the
CD and no number or other definitive information I could use to find
it. It was a Wayne Stahnke production (1998) and apparently reviewed
in your magazine.
How did I find it? I typed in the name Cecile de Horvath and two items
came up: the Honorary Membership she held in the musical sorority Sigma
Alpha Iota, and your site (foxtail.com) with a listing of the
composers, artists, and pieces performed on Welte-Mignon piano rolls.
I can't give you much more than that except the link itself which is
http://www.foxtail.com/Livep/webfiles-CD/welte.html
I don't know if this will help but I would like to obtain this CD if at
all possible since her playing is on it. Any help will be appreciated.
Thank you,
Ralph Cooper, Ph.D.
[ It seems that Dr. Cooper seeks an audio recording of the music
