Jody,
We often get requests from folks wanting to know of restorers in a
particular area and for particular types of instruments. Such as this
morning - a lady wants a player piano restorer in the Pittsburgh area.
Do you have such a listing from which we might give names and phone
numbers without giving recommendations.
We also get many requests wanting information on who can appraise a
particular instrument so it can be sold. Is there a list for these
types of people? Whom do we send these folks to? I hate to tell them
we cannot do this but we are restricted by number of staff (just me!)
and resources we have available. Lots of requests are for pump organs -
several have been for saxophone, violins, etc.
Can you head me in the right direction on either of these questions? Do
so appreciate all you do for mechanical music.
DeBence is coming along great - have a wonderful volunteer who has
gotten almost everything working - we're hearing instruments that
haven't been heard in years.
I'll send a long e-mail to post shortly about our successes!
Thanks again,
Lynn Zillmer

[ Robbie, our regular editor, often follows up an inquiry like this
[ with a personal phone call. Since Robbie is in Europe and I am
[ in Seattle with limited access, I'm going to pose this question
[ to the group and encourage MMD subscribers to comment if they
[ have suggestions. I suspect that we'll have a section in our
[ "Sources" database before too long to answer questions like this.
