A word of appreciation and encouragement to the MMD editors, Jody and
Robbie, as they struggle with housekeeping chores while still sending
out the daily digests, which we have come to anticipate and expect. It
has happened more than once that someone in the larger world has
contacted me months or years after I posted one or another note to MMD.
Mostly they hope to get more information on the particular topic, but
sometimes -- as today -- they step forward as a gold mine of new
information.
A long time ago I posted a note about the famous Charles Sweeley/Harry
J. Lincoln march "Repasz Band." This morning I received an email from
Sheila Hornberger, a member of the Repasz Band, referring me to the
band's new (?) web site:
http://www.lycoming.org/RepaszBand
and offering to give me more information herself, if I needed it.
According to the band's web site, they play their signature march at the
conclusion of each and every concert. One minor question I'm interested
in having Sheila's opinion on is whether the march as I have it played
on my Wurlitzer 165 catalog web site, as an MP3 file from Wurlitzer band
organ roll 6530, is a bit too fast in tempo. She should know.
Anyway, the MMD archives is a great mechanical music resource! I hope
Jody can maintain it over the long haul (or will secure its permanent
preservation by some other means, if he can't). In the meantime it's
probably time for me to send my more-or-less annual financial support
as well.

[ Matthew, thanks for your kind words and for the good news that we've
[ helped make another useful introduction.

[ Also, my thanks to everyone for their patience. Robbie and I are
[ both in Europe, on separate trips, and my modem hasn't been working
[ correctly. Thus, we're running behind again. -- Jody
