Welte T-100 Test Roll With Graduated Holes
By Mike Kitner

Reply to John McClelland [000903 MMD] -- I cut those test rolls copying
an original I had borrowed from a fellow in England. Unfortunately the
instructions that came with the original (in German) made no reference
to the use of the tiny holes.

Since Red Welte-Mignons that I have seen have adjustable bleeds I have
always assumed that these are "Go-No Go" bleed adjustment tests. You
would adjust the bleed so the valve would respond to the larger hole
but ignore the smaller one. I don't know what vacuum level you would
want to do this at; perhaps the level set by the test roll before the
test section with the tiny holes.

I had to make conical punches and cut these holes one copy at a time
and, as a result I have no definite information on the hole size. I
know that I tried to duplicate the hole size of the original exactly.
If you can locate the original you examined again (or one of my copies)
you can easily measure the hole diameters using a set of number drills
for gauges.
