Hot Glue
By Tim Mattice

Nick Hoad -- Welcome to MMD! [000831 MMD] I think if you try the hot
hide glue, you will find that it is a lot easier to use than some might
lead you to believe. Having to heat it, add water periodically and
stirring is somewhat of a pain, but the superiority of the results
greatly outweighs these little inconveniences (in my opinion).

You get a strong, airtight bond with no slipping and no clamping, that
can be separated -- years from now, if need be -- without destroying
the wood. There is no other glue on the market that will give you the
same results.

If you look here in the MMD archives there are several articles on the
subject: http://mmd.foxtail.com/Archives/KWIC/H/hot.html

I have been making cabinets and furniture for over 30 years and I use
nothing but the yellow carpenters glue in the construction because it
doesn't come apart without taking a lot of wood with it. For that
reason alone I would _never_ use carpenters glue in, on or around any
musical instrument.

Super glue, contact cement epoxy, silicone and wallpaper paste are all
superior for their intended purposes as well, none of which is a
musical instrument.

Take Care
Tim Mattice
