Hi all, I recently completed restoration on a Fischer Ampico grand
and had to have it delivered approximately 45 miles. I contacted the
original mover, a piano tech. who said his fees had increased to keep
up with the national average: he could do the move for $500.00.
I then called a local "professional piano and organ moving company"
and was quoted $600.00. Two years ago I paid the mover $200.00 to move
my restored pianos. My personal "finds" were only $150.00. That's for
about 100 miles.
I have an idea why the increase. Monitoring as I do the trade via the
Pianotech list, I have noticed most of them recently quoted $600 as
their basic fee. Could it be word got around that more money could be
made?
So, I moved the darn thing myself like I used to do anyway!
