Kieselhorst Department Store of St. Louis MO
By D. L. Bullock
Kieselhorst Piano Co. did not exist as such. Here in St. Louis there
was a Kieselhorst department store in the olden days that did a huge
business in pianos, so much so that they had pianos specially made for
them. These are stencil pianos.
I have one of them that we believe was made by Schulz and the player
was Price and Teeple. I am told that there were also players with full
M. Schulz piano and player.
The one I have is rather ornate with some molded plaster ornamentation
on it, more than most players, that is.
The Kieselhorst player piano I have will someday be a part of the
St. Louis based museum I am planning. Any more information or
documentation anyone has would be appreciated as it will go on
display. There were several piano factories here, as well.
Does anyone know of other St. Louis piano companies?
