Schaff "Lacquer Leveler" & Mohawk "Amalgamator"
By Mike Haydon

I have a upright, circa 1914, which has the usual "years of dirt"
darkened finish. Years ago I used "Mohawks Amalgamator", essentially
a thinned lacquer, and it was very good for removing years of dirt and
reflowing a finish that had alligatored.

Schaff sells a spray product called "Lacquer Leveler" which claims
to reflow an alligatored finish, as well as remove blushing. The
"Amalgamator" was applied by rubbing with a lint free cloth. Has
anyone on list had any experience with the Schaff product?
